Following its market launch in South Korea last November, the Rhenus group has opened another office in Busan today. The global logistics specialist will mainly provide air and sea freight services from there. However, the office will also handle project business for the oil and gas industry, provide third-party logistics services and operate domestic services.

“We now have our own branch in the south of the country in addition to the capital Seoul. We can offer our logistics services from here and continue to broaden them. The new business site, therefore, matches the ongoing expansion of our Asian network,” says Tobias Bartz, the Rhenus Board Member responsible for Asia.

Busan is South Korea’s second-largest city after Seoul and is located on the south-eastern tip of the Korean Peninsula on the Sea of Japan coast. The port city has one of the largest container ports in the world. Busan is also one of the leading industrial cities in the country with a strong focus on shipbuilding and heavy industry.

“We offer our logistics solutions to specific sectors and draw up individual services for each customer,” says Pep Lee, Managing Director of Rhenus Korea. In addition to trade with Europe, Busan is also an important port hub for traffic to Japan and Greater China.

The Asia-Pacific region is a huge driving force for growth. Rhenus has been investing in the expansion of its activities thereby opening new business sites for several years.
