Menzies, a global supplier of passenger, ramp and cargo handling services, has signed a five-

year deal with SITA to implement the latter’s ground handling management technology at close

to 150 airports globally.

The technology was first trailed at the Oslo Airport in Norway in 2015 where the facility was

successfully installed in six weeks.

Airports that will see the setting up of the new systems include Copenhagen Airport, London

Heathrow Airport, Gatwick Airport, Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, Los Angeles

International Airport and Macau International Airport.

This will be followed by the installation at many other airports in North America and Australia

during 2016.

Menzies SVP support services Steve Rick, said, “With close to 150 airports in 31 countries, it is

vital that we have a clear view of our operations at all times as well as the ability to respond to

changes as they happen.

“The deployment of the systems not only enables more efficient operations but also benefits our

customers and staff through our ability to optimise our operations in response to inevitable off-

schedule activities.

“The system from SITA supports us by providing all the information we need to decide on how

best to deploy our resources while enabling our operations teams to respond proactively to

changes in our operating environment.”

Besides helping Menzies streamline its operations, SITA’s AirportResource Manager will

provide value to the former’s airlines by optimising the deployment of mobile resources through

intelligent and real-time decision-making.

The technology will help Menzies in staff rostering, planning, real-time scheduling and reporting

while allowing its on-field employees to access and update real-time information of their

operations through mobile devices.
