Asiana Airlines to utilize IBS’s iCargo management system

Asiana Airlines Cargo, the freight operation of the South Korea-based carrier, has inked a 10-year, multi-million-dollar contract with logistics IT solutions specialist IBS Software for its iCargo management system.



According to the terms of the deal, IBS will integrate the complete range of Asiana Cargo’s business operations – incorporating sales, revenue accounting, ULD management, mail management and mail revenue accounting – within the single iCargo platform.



According to IBS, the implementation of iCargo will allow the freight carrier to upgrade its IT capabilities from its home-grown legacy core system and a multitude of satellite systems to a single, fully integrated, new-generation platform.



As such, an IBS statement continued, it should allow the carrier to make value-adding enhancements in areas such as revenue and yield management, product management, real-time shipment monitoring and control, as well as in advanced technology capabilities such as enterprise mobility.



The iCargo platform will also enable Asiana Cargo to conform to industry-driven standards and best practices, such as electronic air waybills (eAWBs) and CXML, the technology specialist noted.
