AIPUT Clinches Air Business of the Year Award at Logistics UK Awards

Published: Monday, December 18, 2023

Airport Industrial Property Unit Trust (AIPUT) was the winner of the air cargo award at this year’s Logistics UK Awards.

The awards ceremony took place recently with a glittering reception and celebratory gala dinner at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge, London.

AIPUT was the winner of the Air Business of the Year Award after developing its warehousing facilities around airports in the UK. Chapman Freeborn was shortlisted for the award.

Logistics UK said that AIPUT’s Pathway to Net Zero strategy commits the fund to achieve operational carbon neutrality by 2040.

“This is an industry exemplar in the drive to decarbonise the UK’s airport industrial real estate and airfreight ground operations ahead of the UK’s net zero target date of 2050,” the association said.

“Working as a preferred partner with local businesses, customers and partners, the fund promotes industry-leading environmental performance and works with customers and partners to explore how wider benefits can be achieved.”

David Wells chief executive at Logistics UK, commented: “AIPUT is a well-deserved winner of this award, providing a great example of collaboration to achieve net zero. It is encouraging to see that its net zero strategy includes re-use and refurbishment and not just a focus on new. AIPUT truly represents the best of the best, and we are delighted to name it Air Business of the Year.”

The awards celebrate the companies and individuals that have made a significant contribution to the logistics and supply industry in the past year.

Shortlisted entrants included representatives of the road, rail, sea and air industries, including operators, manufacturers, logistics businesses and supporting industries, which were recognised for their outstanding commitment, knowledge and expertise.

Wells said: “Our Logistics Awards showcase the skills, expertise and ‘can do’ spirit of our industry and this year’s entries really have gone above and beyond to achieve their objectives.

“This year we received our highest number of top-quality entries to date – a clear indicator that the sector continues to innovate and achieve great things for businesses right across the economy.

“All those shortlisted for an award this evening should be very proud of their achievements, as competition was hotter than ever and selecting the winners generated plenty of debate among the judges. And all our winners can be justifiably satisfied that they are at the very top of their game – the crème de la crème if you will.”
