About UPS Healthcare

UPS Healthcare offers global logistics expertise. It has over 17.2 million square feet of healthcare distribution space. Services include inventory management, cold chain packaging, and lab logistics.

UPS Healthcare Expansion

UPS Healthcare has acquired Frigo-Trans and its sister company BPL. These companies are key European providers of cold-chain logistics. This acquisition enhances UPS Healthcare’s capabilities in temperature-controlled logistics. “This move allows us to better serve pharmaceutical and biotech companies,” said John Bolla, President of UPS Healthcare.

Frigo-Trans offers cryopreservation at -196°C and ambient storage between +15° and +25°C. It also has a Pan-European cold-chain transportation network. BPL complements this with time-critical freight forwarding solutions for healthcare clients.

The acquisition aligns with UPS’s mission. It aims to provide unmatched logistics for temperature-sensitive healthcare products. “Precision and reliability are critical for biologics and personalized medicine,” Bolla added. With 80% of European pharmaceuticals needing temperature control, UPS stays at the forefront of the $82 billion healthcare logistics market.

UPS has also expanded its temperature-controlled fleet in France, Italy, the Netherlands, and Hungary. These efforts support growing demand and ensure fast, reliable, and secure transportation for critical healthcare shipments. “Logistics is a competitive advantage for our pharma partners,” Bolla concluded.
