Saudia Cargo, Cainiao and WFS Forge Global Logistics Powerhouse in E-commerce Revolution
In response to the global surge in online shopping, a collaboration has been announced among Saudia Cargo, Cainiao, and Worldwide Flight Services (WFS, a Member of the SATS Group). The three entities have expressed their commitment to reinforcing and expanding their partnership to optimize global logistics operations efficiently.
Focusing on enhancing logistics processes through operational streamlining and adopting innovative logistics solutions, this collaboration includes the establishment of a dedicated area within the air cargo station of Cainiao Liege eHub in Belgium. This specific initiative addresses the increasing demand for high-quality logistics operations in the cross-border e-commerce sector, especially in the Middle East and European markets.
Cainiao, in collaboration with AliExpress, previously introduced its international express shipping service, Global 5-Day Delivery, available in key locations such as the United Kingdom, Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium, and South Korea.
The longstanding collaboration between Saudia Cargo and Cainiao is further strengthened by this agreement. Specific Saudia Cargo freighter flights from Hong Kong to Riyadh and Liege will be prioritized to meet the growing logistics demands in these crucial regions, enhancing the efficiency of e-commerce deliveries.
Additionally, the contract extension with WFS/SATS involves handling over 50,000 tonnes annually on flights connecting Liege and Riyadh, underscoring Saudia Cargo’s dedication to operational excellence and reliable logistics services. WFS/SATS’s investment in subleasing part of the Cainiao facility in Liege highlights its focus on innovation and efficiency, creating a dedicated area for rapid and real-time information processing.
WFS/SATS’s commitment to innovative technology solutions, including AGVs, advanced PDAs, digital dashboards, and live tracking systems, supports a new generation of cargo management systems using IoT technologies for efficient and sustainable e-commerce handling.
Teddy Zebitz, CEO of Saudia Cargo, expressed that the collaboration aims to redefine the industry landscape, offering innovative and customer-centric solutions. Eric Xu, Vice President of Cainiao Group, emphasized their commitment to transforming the logistics industry through continuous innovation. John Batten, CEO of WFS, commented on the importance of a dynamic and tailored industry response to the growth projections for e-commerce.
The strategic collaboration is set to inaugurate on March 1st, 2024, with the goal of making a transformative leap in global logistics and setting a new benchmark for cross-border logistics driven by efficiency and innovation.
