Rhenus targets GDP recognition with new life science and healthcare vertical in Italy
Rhenus Air & Ocean is launching a new dedicated life science and healthcare vertical in Italy as it targets Good Distribution Practice (GDP) recognition.
The forwarder said that the new vertical would offer services that “prioritize the unique needs of time and temperature-sensitive products”.
This includes preventative risk analysis and lane validation across air, ocean and road transport.
Andrea Battaglia has been appointed as head of the new life sciences & healthcare vertical.
Rhenus is also hoping to achieve Good Distribution Practice (GDP) certification in Italy by the end of this year.
The company has already been certified to the standard in Denmark and the Netherlands.
Rhenus Air & Ocean Italy managing director Simone Riccobono said: “We understand the critical role that precise temperature control plays in preserving the efficacy of medical, biotechnological and healthcare products.
“With our specialized expertise and advanced capabilities, we are fully equipped to handle the unique logistics challenges and ensure the safe delivery of time-sensitive life sciences goods in the country.”
Stephan Dülk, global head of life sciences & healthcare, said: “The development in Italy further supports our global Life Sciences & Healthcare strategy and proofs our passion and commitment by supporting this industry sector in improving and saving patients’ life.”
The GDP certification demonstrates companies can fulfil the EU’s requirements for the distribution of human medicinal products.
