JSL Global Transports 105-Ton Trencher to South Africa

JSL Global has successfully delivered a 105-ton Tesmec chain trencher from Jebel Ali, UAE, to Durban, South Africa. The machine, measuring 11.1 m x 4.4 m x 4.22 m, is designed for digging and is ideal for large-diameter pipeline work in firm, abrasive rock.

The transport posed significant challenges, particularly in finding a suitable roll-on/roll-off (RORO) operator due to the machine’s heavy weight and required ramp capacity. “Many RORO operators declined the cargo,” a JSL Global representative stated, highlighting the difficulty in securing a vessel.

Despite these challenges, JSL Global, a member of the Worldwide Project Consortium (WWPC) for Qatar, successfully located a suitable ship. The team opted for a RORO solution over a breakbulk vessel due to higher freight costs associated with the latter. “The team of JSL Global managed to secure the desired transport solution,” the representative added.

The successful delivery underscores JSL Global’s expertise in handling complex logistics for heavy machinery, ensuring the trencher reached its destination as planned.
