Gefco to be re-branded as CEVA Logistics
Automotive logistics firm Gefco will be re-branded as CEVA Logistics and become part of a newly created Finished Vehicles Logistics (FVL) division at the forwarder.
The integration of Gefco into the wider CEVA organisation follows the purchase of the automotive logistics firm in July 2022 by the CMA CGM Group, which is also the parent company of CEVA.
CEVA said it plans to complete integration activities and replace theGefco brand worldwide in 2023.
The new FVL division will be headed by former Gefco chief operating officer Emmanuel Cheremetinski, who will lead a global team of approximately 4,000 employees.
GEFCO’s remaining business, mostly in contract logistics and ground transportation, is being integrated into CEVA’s existing operations.
CEVA’s existing FVL operation will be integrated into the new product organisation.
CEVA said that prior to the acquisition it already provided services to 14 of 15 major vehicle manufacturers, including inbound manufacturing, component and aftermarket services.
The integration of Gefco will allow the company to offer “full lifecycle solutions”.
Guillaume Col, deputy chief executive, regions and products, CEVA Logistics, said: “With the automotive industry undergoing significant transformation, integrating a mature finished vehicle organization puts CEVA in a very strong position.
“With a unique depth of expertise and solutions at all stages of the automotive supply chain, we are already developing comprehensive, end-to-end solutions for this sector.”
GEFCO was until CMA CGM’s purchase 75% owned by Russian Railways RZD and 25% by car company Stellantis.
