DFW Airport has released its 2022 Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) report, themed Shaping Tomorrow. The report provides transparent information and disclosures about DFW’s performance and impact on environmental, social and governance issues.

Chapman Freeborn appoints Marcel Kolb as Vice President Government & Humanitarian Europe

Chapman Freeborn, the global air charter specialist and part of Avia Solutions Group, has appointed Marcel Kolb as Vice President Government & Humanitarian Europe.

Kolb brings extensive experience to his new position, comprising 12 years in the military and almost four at DB Schenker – 13 years of which were spent in logistics and related functions. He also holds a Master’s degree in Economics and Organisational Science, obtained in Munich and Toulouse.

In his role of Transport Officer in the German Air Force, Kolb was part of a NATO mission in Afghanistan, after which he became Vice President Global Defense Business Development at DB Schenker. This role provided Kolb with the responsibility of coordinating charter operations for the military, including for humanitarian projects.

In his new position of VP Government & Humanitarian Europe, Kolb will be responsible for the ongoing development of the humanitarian vertical, developing strategies to create unique selling points and establishing and implementing processes to optimise internal and external potential.

Kolb explains, “My experience in logistics, civilian freight forwarding, and public procurement has afforded me valuable insights into the military and defense industry, which I feel will be extremely beneficial when applied to my new role at Chapman Freeborn.

“By working closely with the European Government & Humanitarian vertical team, I want to establish Chapman Freeborn as the supplier of choice for humanitarian, governmental, military and defense actors in air transport – for both cargo and passenger transport”, Kolb adds.

Kolb has worked with Chapman Freeborn in recent years and is now excited to be part of the team himself; bringing his skills and experience onboard to contribute to the company’s ambitious growth strategy.

He says, “I already know parts of the company and some of my colleagues, so my focus is now on getting to know the whole team. I know from the cooperation I have had with the company over the past few years that there is an incredible amount of expertise, heart and soul at Chapman Freeborn. I am convinced that it is this authenticity, sincerity and professionalism that makes us a successful team and company.”

Kolb will report into Reto Hunziker, President – Europe at Chapman Freeborn. Hunziker says, “I am very happy to have Marcel in the team. With his help we will approach the humanitarian government vertical in a way that ensures we offer the best value and support to our customers and the EU markets. He is a perfect fit for our growing sales and commercial-focused team in Europe.”

Outside of work, Kolb enjoys spending time with his family and friends. He is also a keen football player and has recently taken up golf.

National Air Cargo Group, Inc. partners with Etihad Cargo on USPS ICAIR 2023-27 program

Orlando/Abu Dhabi, 04th August 2023 – U.S. based National Airlines, a division of National Air Cargo Group, Inc., has entered an interline agreement with Middle East’s dynamic Etihad Cargo to successfully roll out the ICAIR23 program for the United States Postal Service (USPS). This agreement initiates a unique partnership, as it combines National’s extensive experience in providing international freight transportation services with Etihad Cargo’s global commercial network.

Under phase 1 of the ICAIR23 program, National Airlines, a U.S. flag carrier with P1 preferences will dispatch USPS civilian, military, and diplomatic mail using the scheduled services of Etihad Cargo across several awarded lanes for the period 2023 -2027.

DHL Global Forwarding announces leadership changes in Air Freight Business

DHL Global Forwarding, the air and ocean freight specialist of DHL Group, announces a change in its global leadership team. Thomas Mack, Executive Vice President Air Freight, will move into a new Senior Advisor role and continue to report directly to Tim Scharwath, CEO of DHL Global Forwarding. Following this, after a transition period, Thomas Mack will leave the company in October 2024 into retirement.

Thomas Mack has worked successfully in the air freight industry for over four decades. At DHL Global Forwarding, he joined five years ago as Head of Global Air Freight and was heavily involved in transforming the organization into one of the world’s leading providers of integrated air freight services. He also worked closely with sister division DHL Express, leveraging a number of valuable synergies within the group.

“First and foremost, I would like to express my sincere thanks to Tom for his tireless efforts, commitment to the company, and achievements in the division’s growth. Under his leadership our air freight business has reached new strengths and heights. The Successor is Already Determined

The industry veteran will be succeeded as Executive Vice President by Max Sauberschwarz, who currently holds the role of Senior Vice President Global StarBroker, DHL Global Forwarding’s air charter organization. Sauberschwarz will assume the new role as of October 1, 2023, reporting directly to Tim Scharwath, CEO DHL Global Forwarding, Freight. In addition to this role, he will also become a member of the Global Forwarding Management Board.

Kale Logistics Solutions’ Airport Cargo Community System goes live at GMR Hyderabad International Airport

Etihad Cargo exceeds operational performance targets

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates – Etihad Cargo, the cargo and logistics arm of Etihad Airways, has continued to surpass operational performance targets, achieving improvements across key performance measures in the first half of 2023.

Building on the strong operational performance of the carrier’s freighter operations in 2022, Etihad Cargo achieved 82.7 per cent on-time performance (OTP) for freighter departures and 82 per cent OTP for freighter arrivals. The recorded OTP for both freighter departures and arrivals in H1 2023 exceeds the carrier’s 80 per cent OTP target. Surpassing this target demonstrates Etihad Cargo’s commitment to providing reliable, high-quality cargo solutions with minimal disruption to the carrier’s partners and customers.

Etihad Cargo has also further improved the carrier’s delivered-as-promised (DAP) rate, achieving 90.6 per cent, ahead of its 85 per cent target and an increase on its 2022 DAP rate of 86.6 per cent.

Thomas Schürmann, Head of Operations at Etihad Cargo, said: “Exceeding OTP and DAP targets demonstrates Etihad Cargo’s strong commitment to reliability, building trust and being the air cargo partner of choice. In addition to Etihad Cargo’s expanding freighter network, the carrier offers belly capacity to over 69 destinations across Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia and the Americas with 674 weekly rotations. To complement the carrier’s scheduled services, Etihad Cargo operates charter flights and has expanded its road feeder service network to enhance connectivity to non-network destinations.
