Sitecore names Jose Valles as President, EMEA

DUBAI—Sitecore®, the global leader in digital experience management software, today announced the appointment of  Jose Valles as President of the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region.

Valles joins Sitecore in a year where the company announced a $1.2 Billion Investment plan to accelerate its growth, which has generated four acquisitions including Four51Boxever, and Moosend, and Reflektion and sparked record growth for the company.

Valles will be responsible for driving the overall sales strategy and growth for the EMEA region for Sitecore. Earlier this year the region touted an expanded presence in key markets  including France, Italy, Spain and Greece – all of which will fall under the remit of Valles.

“The Sitecore footprint in the EMEA region is expanding quickly and we need strong leadership to steer the growing team,” said Monte Wilson, chief revenue officer. “Valles brings a strong passion for and knowledge of the region, and we are very pleased to have him on board.”

Valles joins Sitecore from SAP, where he served multiple roles in the EMEA South region, leading both the CX and the Cloud ERP businesses. He also previously held executive positions in the telco industry in companies such as du, STC, and Telefonica, starting and scaling new businesses across the globe.

Etihad Cargo reinforces the premium product delivery with specialised managerial appointments

Abu Dhabi, UAE – Etihad Cargo, the cargo and logistics arm of Abu Dhabi’s Etihad Aviation Group, has significantly enhanced delivery of its eight-strong premium product range with the appointment of a specialised managerial team for cool chain products, Mail and eCommerce, Live animals and equine, and high value products.

“Etihad Cargo’s premium products and services account for 30 percent of operations. Each of these products receive a specialised service to ensure the product is delivered to the highest industry standards” explained Martin Drew, Senior Vice President Sales and Cargo, Etihad Aviation Group. “The renewed emphasis on premium products reflects Etihad Cargo’s desire to provide clients the highest possible service level which will ensure long-term relationships as the air cargo partner of choice.”

Nasir Sajwani will now head up delivery of the carrier’s FlightValet, which manages the global transportation of high-value vehicles across the globe, FlyCulture, the tailored service for the secure and discreet transportation of rare and valuable artworks and musical instruments, and SafeGuard – the dedicated secure transportation service for valuable cargo.

Fabrice Panza, Product Manager, continues to lead Etihad Cargo’s cool chain products including its award-winning PharmaLife which uses specially designed, temperature-controlled equipment and specific processes to ship pharmaceuticals around the world as quickly and as safely as possible while complying with the highest industry compliance standards, and FreshForward which simplifies the movement of fresh fruit, vegetables, dairy, fish, meat, and flowers.

Both products leverage Etihad’s extensive experience which has seen it be the first Middle Eastern carrier to be awarded IATA’s Centre of Excellence for Independent Validators (CEIV) certification in Pharmaceutical Logistics and the first regional airline – and second globally – to gain the IATA CEIV Fresh certificate which verifies it as a centre of excellence for perishable logistics.

Ram Vignesh is now managing Etihad Cargo’s AirMail and eCommerce products while Arun Nair leads the carrier’s LiveAnimals and SkyStables, products for the specialised and safe transportation of animals and horses respectively.

Etihad Cargo’s premium products operate across the carrier’s global network which spans Africa, America, Asia, Australia, Europe and the Middle East from its hub in Abu Dhabi.

dnata promotes Guillaume Crozier to Senior Vice President, UAE Cargo

Dubai, UAE—dnata, a leading global air and travel services provider, announced the appointment of Guillaume Crozier as Senior Vice President, UAE Cargo.

In his new role, Guillaume will oversee dnata’s cargo business in the UAE covering Dubai International (DXB) and Dubai World Central (DWC) airports. Guillaume will be based in Dubai and report to David Barker, dnata’s Divisional Senior Vice President for Airport Operations. Guillaume’s appointment took effect on 19 December 2021.

Guillaume has been with dnata since 2011. Most recently he has been responsible for operational performance management as well as innovation and product development across dnata’s global network for both ground and cargo handling products. Previously Guillaume was Chief Operating Officer of dnata Switzerland. Before joining dnata, he fulfilled various managerial roles across the supply chain in several markets.

Guillaume will replace Bernd Struck in his new role. As Senior Vice President, Bernd has been leading dnata’s UAE cargo operations and DWC airline services since 2014 and will retire from his role at the end of the year.

Jettainer has a new representative in the Asia-Pacific Region

FRANKFURT: Strengthening its foothold in the Asia-Pacific region, the global leader in unit load device (ULD) management, Jettainer, has appointed Edward Neo as its new General Manager for Sales APAC.

Neo has been catering to the needs of customers in the region from his base in Singapore since December 1. Jettainer says it is continuing its strategy to be close to its customers and to further grow its business in the region by creating this new setup.

Neo has over 20 years of sales experience in a number of industries and in the Asia-Pacific region. The trained mechanical engineer last worked in the aviation industry at Safran Electronics & Defence Services Asia Pte Ltd/SEDSA and at SITA Incorporated Networking Corporation (Asia Pacific) Pte Ltd. He was in charge of sales for maintenance, repair and overhaul solutions (MRO) for the Southeast Asia and Oceania region at Safran Electronics & Defence Services and supported a variety of airlines in improving and making their flight operations more efficient.

He also worked at SITA up until 2016 and successfully implemented a check-in system at Changi Airport Group from Singapore.

Dietmar Focke is Lufthansa Cargo’s new Chief Operations and Human Resources Officer

FRANKFURT: Dietmar Focke, currently Vice President Engine Services at Lufthansa Technik, will join the Executive Board of Lufthansa Cargo on March 1, 2022, with responsibility for Operations and Human Resources. He succeeds Harald Gloy who is leaving the company at his own request.

“I am very pleased that we have been able to win Dietmar Focke, an experienced Lufthansa colleague, as Chief Operations and Human Resources Officer,” said Dr. Michael Niggemann, Member of the Executive Board of Deutsche Lufthansa AG and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Lufthansa Cargo. “He will bring his extensive experience in logistics and the management of large operational areas and will also continue to lead Operations and Human Resources toward the future and strengthen Lufthansa Cargo’s role in a fiercely competitive environment.”

In his new role, Focke will be Labor Director and will also assume responsibility for handling at the Frankfurt and Munich hubs, as well as Global Handling Management, Flight Operations, and Security and Procurement.

Focke, 48, has been responsible for Commercials Engine Services at Lufthansa Technik since the beginning of 2019. The engineering graduate started his career as a product engineer at Lufthansa Technik in 2001.

After holding positions in the areas of Strategy & Business Development and Airframe Related Components in Hamburg, he moved to Ameco in China for five years from 2010 to 2014. There, he was responsible for aircraft overhaul, in addition to other duties. Focke also served as CEO of Lufthansa Technik’s Base Maintenance facility in Budapest, Hungary, until 2019.

Stewart Angus is dnata’s new regional CEO for Europe

Dubai, UAE—dnata, a leading global air and travel services provider, announced the appointment of Stewart Angus as its Regional Chief Executive Officer for Europe, leading dnata’s airport operations at 23 airports in 6 countries across the continent, managing 6,300 highly-trained employees.

Stewart, whose appointment took effect on 29 November 2021, will be based in the UK. He will report to David Barker, dnata’s Divisional Senior Vice President for Airport Operations.

Stewart has over 20 years of experience in leading high-performing teams in the aviation industry. Most recently he was based in Dubai, UAE, overseeing dnata’s airport operations globally for 16 years.

Stewart left dnata in the summer of 2021 to move to the UK for family reasons. Prior to joining dnata, he held various management roles at Emirates Airline and British Airways.

Harald Gloy resigns from Lufthansa Cargo Executive Board

FRANKFURT, Germany—Harald Gloy, Chief Operations and Human Resources Officer at Lufthansa Cargo, will leave the Executive Board of Lufthansa Cargo AG on 28 February 2022 for personal reasons and will devote himself to new professional challenges outside the Lufthansa Group.

The 49-year-old industrial engineer has been Chief Operations Officer since January 1, 2019. In his role, Gloy was responsible for handling at the Frankfurt and Munich hubs as well as for Global Handling Management, Flight Operations, and Security. Since March 1, 2021, he has also been responsible for Human Resources on the Executive Board and thus assumed the role of Labor Director.

“Harald Gloy has served more than 20 years and very successfully in various positions, first in the top management of Lufthansa Technik and since 2019 on the Executive Board of Lufthansa Cargo,” said Dr. Michael Niggemann, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Lufthansa Cargo AG and Chief Human Resources Officer of the Lufthansa Group. “With his extensive experience in aviation and logistics as well as in managing large business units, he has continued to lead Lufthansa Cargo towards the future as part of the Executive Board team and contributed to Lufthansa Cargo’s current great economic success.”

Gloy has driven forward the modernisation of Lufthansa Cargo over the past three years. This includes a comprehensive infrastructure programme, which includes the further development and renovation of the logistics centre at the home hub in Frankfurt.

In addition, Gloy was able to complete the fleet rollover to an all-B777 freighter fleet in Lufthansa Cargo’s flight operations, which also fall within his remit. In his remaining term of office, Gloy will implement the introduction of the first A321 freighter for Lufthansa Cargo in cooperation with Lufthansa Cityline.

A decision on Gloy’s successor will be made in due course, Lufthansa said.

Etihad Airways appoints Dr. Nadia Bastaki as Chief of Human Resources 

Abu Dhabi, UAE – Etihad Airways has named Dr. Nadia Bastaki as Chief Human Resources, Organizational Development and Asset Management Officer, becoming the first-ever female chief at the national airline of the United Arab Emirates.

Prior to this role, Dr. Bastaki served as a key member of the human resources leadership team as Vice President Medical Services since 2014, with responsibility for leading the aeromedical center and ensuring the overall health and wellbeing of employees, as well as driving the diversity and inclusion, and corporate social responsibility programs at Etihad Airways.

Dr. Bastaki joined the national airline in 2007, becoming the first female UAE national to specialize in aviation medicine, and has been a key figure in developing the Etihad Airways Medical Centre into a region-leading aeromedical center.

“Dr Bastaki has played a pivotal role in developing our world-class healthcare system at Etihad Airways and looking after our employees over the past 15 years, and we are delighted to welcome her to her new role,” said Tony Douglas, Etihad Group Chief Executive Officer.

“Dr Bastaki’s astute leadership throughout the COVID-19 crisis was a defining factor in how successfully we navigated the pandemic. She brings a deep understanding of the industry to the role along with a wealth of executive leadership experience in human resources and medical services, at a time when employee health and wellbeing were never as important.”

During the pandemic, Dr Bastaki played a central role in overseeing the airline’s health and safety response to the global crisis and directly coordinating with the National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority, the General Civil Aviation Authority and SEHA.

“I am delighted to take on this new role and look forward to continuing to build a highly-engaging employee experience and inclusive work culture at Etihad Airways. Our people are our most valuable asset and will be the key to our success as we continue to recover from the global health crisis,” said Dr. Bastaki who has nearly 20 years of experience as a medical practitioner.

She holds a master’s degree in occupational medicine from Manchester University as well as a diploma in aviation medicine from King’s College London.

Airbus partners with Esharah Etisalat Security Solutions

The platform will support the government’s operations and the Emirate’s public safety and security efforts.

In the frame of the MoU, Tactilon Agnet licenses will be used by relevant organizations which will give them access to integrated features, including voice services, instant messaging, video communication, location mapping and emergency calls.

The planned implementation of Tactilon Agnet, which runs on standard and ruggedized smart devices, will benefit public safety personnel and first responders such as Dubai police, ambulance operators, and Civil Defense forces, as well as transport, utility, and industry organizations, corporate sectors, and others.

Tactilon Agnet is a collaborative tool for business- and mission-critical users. It offers a hybrid work environment allowing Tetra and LTE radio users to coordinate with their team members using their existing communication infrastructure and smart devices. Users will experience improved situational awareness thanks to Tactilon Agnet control center integrations.

By committing to such an implementation, both parties also showed their abilities to contribute to Dubai’s digitalization initiatives and efforts to become the world’s smartest city.

MENA Cargo makes EuroAtlantic Airways its 1st strategic partner

MENA Cargo has announced Portugal-based EuroAtlantic Airways as its first strategic partner.

EuroAtlantic Airways will supply aircraft to support MENA Cargo’s global strategy in expanding operations in South East Asia, Europe and the US.

A one-year charter agreement has been signed for a Boeing 777-200ER and Boeing 767-300ER, both of which are freighter conversions, with the ‘likelihood’ of more aircraft being added soon.

MENA Cargo and EuroAtlantic Airways signed the partnership agreement at the GITEX Global tech event in Dubai, and will be participating together at the upcoming Dubai Airshow on November 14-18.
