Pattaya Airways officially commenced its air cargo operations on August 21, 2024, with the launch of services between Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) and Yangon International Airport in Myanmar.

The inaugural flight, operated by the ATR 72-500 freighter “Thantima” (HS-PAW), marked a significant milestone for the airline.

“Our entry into the air cargo market represents a transformative phase for Pattaya Airways and Thailand’s logistics capabilities,” said a company spokesperson. “We aim to enhance regional cargo transportation efficiency with our focus on key routes including Bangkok–Yangon, Phuket–Yangon, and Bangkok–Phuket.”

In addition to its initial routes, Pattaya Airways plans to expand into Cambodia and Vietnam in the fourth quarter of 2024 to meet growing demand in the ASEAN market. The airline received its air operator certificate (AOC) from the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand last month and has secured a partnership with ACE Global Logistics Solutions.

Pattaya Airways took delivery of its first two ATR 72-500 freighters in April and June 2024 from ACIA Aero Leasing. The airline aims to expand its fleet to five aircraft by 2028 to support its growth and further establish Thailand as a logistics hub in the ASEAN region.

The successful launch of Pattaya Airways’ cargo services is expected to bolster Thailand’s logistics industry, providing crucial links for manufacturing, retail, and healthcare sectors.
