airBaltic reopens cargo operations in Ukraine

Latvian airline airBaltic has reopened cargo operations from Kyiv, Ukraine by organizing a multimodal mail transportation system in cooperation with Ukrposhta, the national postal service of Ukraine.

Martin Gauss, chief executive officer of airBaltic, said: “We do our utmost to help the Ukrainian nation. As a result, a regular truck line Kyiv-Riga now feeds (the) airBaltic flight network from Ukraine to major European hubs and beyond.”

The first mail shipment from Kyiv arrived in Riga on April 12. Since then the company has handled more than 7 000 mail bags from Ukraine with a total weight of over 50 tons.

airBaltic operates 34 Airbus A220-300 aircraft. airBaltic Cargo offers airfreight shipments across Europe, the Middle East, and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
