DHL eCommerce Opens New UK Parcel Hub
DHL eCommerce is celebrating the opening of its latest parcel hub, a 25,000 m² facility located south of Coventry Airport. This new hub supports the growth of domestic and international e-commerce for UK businesses, creating up to 600 local jobs and expanding DHL’s market share. Part of a €560 million investment announced in 2022, the hub aims to increase capacity and set a new benchmark in parcel automation.
The facility features a 48-door cross-dock, secure bonded storage, and customs capabilities to enhance international trade. “More than any other European market, e-commerce in the UK is booming,” said Pablo Ciano, CEO of DHL eCommerce. “With our latest addition, we are significantly expanding our processing and sorting capacity, ensuring we are perfectly equipped to address our customers’ needs.”

It also includes 120 EV charging points. Stuart Hill, CEO of DHL eCommerce UK, stated, “This expansion will enable us to meet growing demand. The investment reflects our confidence in British business and our dedication to helping our customers thrive.”
DHL: Electric Fleet for Sustainable Deliveries
DHL 2-Mann-Handling GmbH is expanding its electric fleet in March to enhance low-emission delivery of large and bulky goods on the “last mile” in parts of Germany. A total of 21 new electric vans will be deployed across Lower Saxony, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, Thuringia, Berlin, Bavaria, and Baden-Württemberg. This transition to electric mobility is part of DHL’s sustainability program, with Deutsche Post and DHL leading electric mobility in Germany, operating 32,400 electric vehicles for mail and parcel delivery. Over 50% of delivery routes in the Post & Parcel Germany division are already electric, and now the fleet for large goods delivery is transitioning.
Beate Seeher, Managing Director of DHL 2-Mann-Handling GmbH, emphasized, “We focus on sustainability not just in our buildings and operational processes. The deployment of electric vehicles for last mile delivery is an important step forward.” Each electric vehicle saves approximately 20.4 tons of CO2e emissions and 6,400 liters of diesel annually compared to a combustion engine.
Customers can enhance delivery with GoGreen or GoGreen Plus services, offering CO2e emissions compensation or direct reductions. DHL 2-Mann-Handling, specializing in large goods transport, employs around 400 staff in Germany. From its central hub in Ludwigsau and a second location in Landsberg, it supplies over 30 regional DHL partner depots in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
Operating as an independent subsidiary since January 2020, DHL 2-Mann-Handling continues to innovate in sustainable logistics.
