Ethiopian Airlines Expands to Porto, Portugal
Ethiopian Airlines, Africa’s largest airline, is set to launch a new flight service to Porto, Portugal, effective July 2, 2025. The new route will include a stop in Madrid, Spain, and operates four times weekly using the B787 Dreamliner.

- ET740: Departs Addis Ababa on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays at 23:10, arriving in Madrid at 05:55 the next day. It departs Madrid on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at 06:55, arriving in Porto at 07:15.
- ET741: Departs Porto on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at 19:55, arriving in Madrid at 21:10. It departs Madrid at 23:10, arriving in Addis Ababa at 07:25 the following day.

Ethiopian Airlines already serves Lisbon through codeshare flights and operates around 140 weekly passenger flights to 22 European destinations. They also serve 8 cargo destinations in Europe. This new service strengthens Ethiopian Airlines’ European presence and fosters closer ties between the regions.
Ethiopian Airlines Fligths to India
Ethiopian Airlines, Africa’s largest airline, will launch a new thrice-weekly passenger service to Hyderabad, India, starting June 16, 2025. This expansion underscores Ethiopian Airlines’ commitment to enhancing connectivity between Africa and Asia, providing passengers with more travel options.
Mesfin Tasew, Group CEO of Ethiopian Airlines, stated, “We are delighted to commence a new passenger service to Hyderabad. Since our first flight to Mumbai, India, in 1971, we have expanded our footprint throughout the country, offering convenient passenger and cargo transportation services. This new service will not only enhance travel options for our esteemed passengers but also strengthen trade and tourism ties between the two countries and beyond.”
The airline currently operates over fifty weekly flights to five Indian cities: Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, and Chennai.
The new Hyderabad route will further solidify the airlines’ presence in India, enhancing flight alternatives for passengers and reinforcing its position as Africa’s leading carrier with extensive connectivity and world-class service.
