SriLankan Cargo Joins CargoAi's CargoMART for Online Booking and Payments

SriLankan Cargo has become the latest carrier to place its capacity on the CargoMART online booking portal from CargoAi.

As well as being able to book cargo on SriLankan flights, CargoAi users will also be able to make cross-border payments through the system.

The integration offers multiple payment methods, ranging from local transfers to credit card payments.

This will remove the reliance on cash payments and enhance security and efficiency in financial transactions, CargoAi said.

“For freight forwarders, the integration also means that they no longer need to provide a bank guarantee or pay yearly subscriptions,” the air cargo software firm added.

The CargoWALLET platform facilitates the reconciliation process, automating tasks that were previously manual.

SriLankan will also be able to expand its customer base to the freight forwarder users of CargoAi.

Chaminda Perera, head of cargo of SriLankan Airlines, said: “Our partnership with CargoAi marks another significant stride in our digitalisation journey, aimed at expanding our horizons.

“We will be able to enhance the visibility of our inventory and offer customers a convenient airfreight booking experience. We are looking forward to extending our market reach and engaging with businesses of all scales with CargoAi.”

Matt Petot, chief executive of CargoAi, added: “By leveraging technology to streamline processes and enhance user experience, we are paving the way for a more efficient and sustainable future in airfreight logistics.”

Earlier this year, SriLankan also added its capacity to the cargo.one online booking portal.

In March 2023, Perera told Air Cargo News of the carrier’s plans to expand its online presence as it was adding new flights and looking to expand its customer base.

“By looking at technological and industry trends, SriLankan Cargo has initiated steps to partner with online e-booking platforms as distribution channels to expand the market reach and improve market visibility,” he said.

The addition of SriLankan Cargo to the platform comes shortly after an airline on-time performance metric was added.

CargoQUALITY enables freight forwarders using CargoMART to see every airline’s quality performance on their selected flight route. All carriers are measured against the same industry-established method, namely their Notify for Delivery (NFD) performance.
