Dachser expands in Australia and New Zealand with new acquisition

Dachser has expanded in Australia and New Zealand with the acquisition of freight forwarder ACA International.

ACA is headquartered in Melbourne and the purchase adds six additional locations to Dachser’s Air & Sea Logistics (ASL) network.

“This acquisition means Dachser’s own air and sea freight network now also covers Australia and New Zealand, countries that are not only economically strong but also closely interlinked with Asia, Europe, and North America,” Dachser said

ACA International employs 56 people and generated revenue of around €75m in 2021.

In Australia, the company has offices in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. In the New Zealand, ACA is present in Auckland, Wellington and Hamilton.

There is also a branch office in Kansas City in the US and a presence in China, although the Chinese locations are not part of the acquisition.

“This acquisition lets Dachser Air & Sea Logistics continue on its growth trajectory and, by adding Australia and New Zealand, fills a gap in the global network of our own locations,” said EdoardoPodestà, chief operating office ASL and managing director ASL APAC.

“That means we can offer our customers seamless access to dynamic economic markets that boast attractive local conditions and significant levels of investment.”

ACA International is led by Adam Cruttenden, Glenn Hall, Mark Weeks and Hervey Graham. Cruttenden will take on the role of managing director ASL Oceania.

The deal is not Dachser’s first purchase of recent months – in December, Dachser acquired the remaining 50% of the shares in its Hungarian joint ventures “Liegl&DachserSzállítmányozásiésLogisztikaiKft.” (transport and storage of industrial goods and food products) and “Liegl&Dachser ASL Hungary Kft.” (air and sea freight).
