Cargo drone developer Dronamics has appointed two new figures to its management team.

Pete MacIntyre has joined the company as chief legal officer and is now a member of its executive team.

He has previously managed multidisciplinary legal teams at leading technology businesses including TikTok, Microsoft and App Annie.

MacIntyre’s appointment is said by Dronamics to come at a significant moment as the company looks to commercialise operations across Europe as well as expand its presence to other regions.

Robert Harnan has also joined the business as director of supply chain and external manufacturing, and is now a member of Dronamics’ senior management team.

Harnan has experience in supply chain and complex project management, including 20 years at Rolls-Royce, where he led several aero engine programmes.

Harnan is expected to lead the next phase of cargo drone manufacturing – at scale – for Dronamics, which will be working in co-operation with leading manufacturing partners abroad.

“As the world’s first cargo drone airline, our business crosses over aviation, tech and logistics,” said SvilenRangelov, co-founder and chief executive of Dronamics.

“Pete and Robert’s valuable experience will be instrumental as we prepare for commercial operations and manufacturing at scale.

“Their expertise in leading complex projects will help accelerate our next stage of growth.”

Dronamics hopes to offer drone operations for same-day delivery services later this year, having now completed a flight test programme.

Its flagship drone model, Black Swan, can carry 350 kg of payload over a distance of up to 2,500 km.

Dronamics believes its drones can support same-day shipping over very long distances for a variety of industries – ranging from pharma to food, from e-commerce to spare parts.

It is, the company notes, Europe’s first licensed cargo drone airline and IATA’s first Strategic Partner for drones.
