Shanghai Pilot Free Trade Zone to begin tracking cargo shipments for automation and improved visibility
Shanghai Pilot Free Trade Zone will begin to track air cargo shipments to help automate processes and improve cargo visibility.
The free trade zone partnered with software firms Champ Cargosystems and Sita after it was mandated by the Shanghai municipal government to set up a cargo tracking service platform to track shipping information of offshore trade transactions.
The new system will meet this mandate by automatically filing and verifying air waybills and transactions to the relevant municipal and central government authorities
Nicholas Xenocostas, chief commercial officer at Champ Cargosystem, said the automation of the shipment checking process will save time accessing shipment records and capital flow transactions.
He added that the company needed to adjust its standard solution to meet the needs of managing the capital flows of free trade activities in Shanghai.
