Jet Airways to integrate all flights at T2

Jet Airways (India) Ltd, country’s second largest airline by passenger carried, will integrate its domestic and international flight operations to one terminal, at Terminal 2 (T2), at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA) in Sahar on 15 March.

Gaurang Shetty, Senior Vice President (commercial) at Jet Airways, said the integration at Mumbai’s T2 will enable Jet Airways to transform Mumbai into a critical international transit hub.

Jet Airways operates over 135 daily flights out of Mumbai to destinations in India and around the world.

The airline’s migration of domestic operations to a single terminal will also result in hassle-free transfers for passengers.

A senior aviation expert, requesting anonymity, said this migration will help Jet Airways plan its international services and onward domestic connections in a more structured way.

“This can create good network strategy and will have a positive impact on its seat occupancy factor,” he said.

Spreading across 4.4 million square feet, the integrated Terminal 2 has 60 departure check-in counters and 80 arrival immigration counters capable of handling 40 million passengers annually.

Terminal 2 is also connected to the island city by public transport which includes the suburban railway, the Metro, buses, taxis and auto-rickshaws.

“The relocation of domestic operations to T2 is part of Jet Airways’ strategic commitment to develop Indian airports as hubs, providing guests greater connectivity on its domestic and international networks. The move to Terminal 2 will significantly improve operational efficiencies, by allowing Jet Airways to transition a greater number of domestic flyers onto its international network and vice-versa,” the airline said.

Passengers will now be able to transfer from domestic to international flights within 75 minutes compared to an hour and 45 minutes currently while international to local transfers will take just 90 minutes compared to two hours currently.

Jet Airways, in which Etihad Airways PJSC has a 24% stake, operates flights to 73 destinations, including 51 in India and 22 across the world.
