CHAMP Cargosystems has deepened its partnership with CMA CGM AIR CARGO, a division of the CMA CGM Group. The collaboration aims to boost the safety and efficiency of its air cargo operations. Through the adoption of CHAMP’s AI-driven Cargospot Weight & Balance solution, CMA CGM AIR CARGO has significantly optimized load planning and enhanced operational safety across its global fleet.
Cargospot Weight & Balance is a leading, industry-approved software solution designed to maximize flight safety through precise and efficient load planning. It instantly generates safe, fuel-optimized load plans to ensure optimal aircraft performance.
Using advanced algorithms and Artificial Intelligence (AI), Cargospot Weight & Balance can produce an optimized load plan in mere seconds. Its unique “Autoload” feature makes this possible. These innovations allow the load master to reduce the time of manual load planning from over one hour. With a single keystroke, it now takes just a few seconds.
The successful implementation of Cargospot Weight & Balance comes shortly after CMA CGM AIR CARGO adopted numerous CHAMP products. These include Cargospot Airline, Cargospot Portal, Cargospot Business Intelligence, and Traxon cargoHUB.
Khaled Chamsuddine, Product Manager Weight & Balance from CHAMP said “It’s our pleasure to support CMA CGM AIR CARGO’s operations. By leveraging our software, CMA CGM AIR CARGO delivers fast, safe, and fully optimized flight load plans, contributing to reducing fuel burn. This results in saving costs and achieving environmental sustainability goals.”

David Linford, VP Sales and Account Management from CHAMP Cargosystems adds, “We are incredibly proud to be working with CMA CGM AIR CARGO. CHAMP’s Cargospot Weight & Balance continues to be particularly suited for freighter operations and is a natural fit for the innovative CMA CGM AIR CARGO to add this to their tool kit and by leveraging our solution, CMA CGM AIR CARGO can ensure extreme accuracy, ease, and safety for air cargo flights.”
Worldwide Flight Services (WFS), one of the world’s largest and leading ground handlers and a SATS company, has implemented CHAMP A2Z Scan and is planning a wider rollout in 2025.
CHAMP A2Z Scan is a smart application that automates and digitalizes the time-consuming tasks of manual Air Waybill (AWB) data entry or comparison with corresponding AWB data into any cargo management system – including CHAMP’s Cargospot suite.
The solution – already operational in WFS’ Dublin warehouse – has quickly demonstrated significant benefits, including the ability to reduce the time it takes to capture an Air Waybill from 4 minutes manually to 30 seconds using CHAMP A2Z Scan – an impressive efficiency gain of more than 85%.
CHAMP Cargosystems and WFS have worked closely together in a period of rapid testing and improvement, to ensure CHAMP A2ZScan meets the operational needs of the ground handler and delivers consistently superior service.
WFS will leverage CHAMP A2Z Scan to digitalize time consuming and manual processes and benefit from the automatic extraction of information into their cargo management system, Cargospot Handling. The transition to paperless document processing brings significant time savings, dramatically reduces the margin of error associated with manual operations and improves sustainability efforts by eliminating paper-based processes.

Lucas Fernandez, VP Innovation & Insight at CHAMP said: “I’m very excited to see Worldwide Flight Services implement CHAMP A2Z Scan and look forward to an impactful global rollout. CHAMP A2Z Scan is our first 100% AI-based product and will drive enormous efficiencies in ground handling operations. It is always a pleasure to work with WFS who share our values of innovation and digitalization in air cargo.”
Adam Brownson, IT Programs and Business Relationships Manager – EMEAA at WFS, said: “We look forward to embracing CHAMP A2Z Scan at key stations in our EMEAA network and are already seeing measurably positive results from its use in our Dublin warehouse. The move is another important step in our automation and digitalization journey, and we look forward to continuing to innovate our operations alongside CHAMP.”
CHAMP Cargosystems has announced that a team of its professionals emerged victorious at this year’s IATA ONE Record Hackathon. The team, named United Lethal Developers (ULDs), won the Jettainer ULD challenge with their innovative LUNA app.
All teams were asked to build solutions to enhance cargo products using the ONE Record Data Sharing standard by multimodal means. The hosts asked the teams to address at least one of the related challenges by using at least one of the APIs available at the event.
CHAMP Cargosystems’ team accepted the Jettainer ULD Challenge which entailed creating an AI-assisted serviceability check for Unit Load Devices (ULDs). They created the LUNA app, an AI-powered assistant for ULD damage assessment, improving accuracy and efficiency, paired with decentralized identity for secure, plug-and-play ONE Record authentication without shared credentials.
After deliberating, a panel of six judges determined United Lethal Developers (ULDs) and their LUNA app to be the winners of the Jettainer ULD Challenge.
“We are incredibly proud of our CHAMP team’s hard work, innovation, and brilliant execution demonstrated in this year’s IATA ONE Record Hackathon,” says Chris McDermott, CEO at CHAMP Cargosystems. “The LUNA app is a testament to how quickly AI solutions can be implemented to deliver tangible benefits in real-world scenarios. LUNA demonstrates that AI can empower—not replace—field operators by making their work faster and more efficient.
We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to all those who participated in the Hackathon, from the other entrants to the facilitators who worked round the clock to make this year’s event one to remember.”

Nine teams participated in the event, which included around-the-clock coding sessions to drive projects to completion on the final day. IATA’s ONE Record Hackathon is an important initiative designed to promote ONE Record adoption through innovation, creativity, and problem solving.
Henk Mulder, Head, Digital Cargo at IATA, said “We were excited to have CHAMP join us in Dublin for our ONE Record Hackathon. Their expertise in air cargo technology and digital innovation is invaluable in shaping the future of data exchange in our industry. Collaboration between industry leaders and the developer community is essential for driving open-source advancements, and CHAMP’s involvement helps push the boundaries of what’s possible with ONE Record.”
Royal Air Maroc Cargo, Morocco’s national airline, has reinforced its 15-year partnership with CHAMP Cargosystems by integrating Cargospot Mobile and Cargospot Handling.
With these new additions, Royal Air Maroc Cargo continues to strategically expand its CHAMP portfolio, effectively addressing critical challenges in the air cargo industry with solutions like Cargospot Airlines, Cargospot Handling, Traxon Global Security, and Traxon Global Commerce.
Implemented earlier in the year, Cargospot Mobile elevates RAM’s hub operations in Casablanca by putting Cargospot Handling in the hands of employees through mobile devices directly on the warehouse floor. This will equip Royal Air Maroc Cargo with live shipment status updates, data insights and safety mechanisms for the handling of dangerous goods, unlocking profound efficiency gains through enhanced connectivity and streamlined operations.
July marked another milestone with Royal Air Maroc Cargo’s successful deployment of Cargospot API giving the airline access to CHAMP’s industry-leading suite of APIs which include services for booking and pricing to be used in tandem with CHAMP’s Cargospot solution. Royal Air Maroc Cargo was particularly enthusiastic to connect with API marketplace, cargo.one, to deliver a world-class digital booking experience and visibility across global customer markets.
Both implementations were executed successfully with impressive speed and were made possible through shared values of collaboration, innovation, and interconnectivity.
Ali Ghaffar, Head of Sales – EMEA at CHAMP, said “We are delighted to equip Royal Air Maroc with Cargospot Mobile and Cargospot APIs and facilitate their continued success. The addition of new Cargospot products combined with their existing suite of CHAMP solutions positions them for excellent growth and opportunities ahead.”
