DP World's Newest Vessel Marks Maiden Arrival at Jebel Ali Port
DP World has announced its latest addition to the Marine Services fleet with the arrival of the DP World Jebel Ali, which made its maiden call at Jebel Ali Port. The state-of-the-art Sapphire 5300 compact gearless container vessel is equipped with advanced maritime technologies aimed at enhancing cargo handling efficiency, reducing operational costs, and promoting a more sustainable maritime industry.
To mark the occasion, senior management from DP World and Unifeeder hosted a special reception at Jebel Ali Port, emphasizing the port’s crucial role in the global supply chain. The DP World Jebel Ali will be integrated into Unifeeder’s Asian Gulf ISC Service (AGI), further strengthening connectivity in the region.
The vessel’s compact design offers improved maneuverability, enabling access to smaller ports and inland terminals, which opens up new opportunities to expand supply chain networks. This feature is particularly valuable in ensuring seamless connectivity across regions with varied port infrastructure.
In terms of sustainability, the DP World Jebel Ali is set to make a significant environmental impact. The vessel is expected to save around 1,700 metric tonnes of bunker fuel annually, resulting in a 15 to 20 percent reduction in carbon emissions on its designated routes.
