Menzies Aviation’s Nairobi Facility Achieves IATA CEIV Pharma Certification

The Menzies Aviation-Siginon Aviation partnership has been awarded IATA’s CEIV Pharma (Center of Excellence for Independent Validators in Pharmaceutical Logistics) certification for its cargo handling facility at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) in Nairobi, Kenya.

This marks the seventh Menzies Aviation location to be awarded the certification and the company’s first in the Middle East, Africa and Asia (MEAA).

Menzies’ NBO facility is now IATA CEIV certified alongside Sydney (SYD), Melbourne (MEL), London Heathrow (LHR) Budapest (BUD) and Amsterdam Schiphol (AMS) airports.

The three-year accreditation is awarded to companies that demonstrate the standards set by IATA for handling high-value, time-sensitive, and temperature-controlled pharmaceutical products.

IATA’s CEIV accreditation follows a major investment in Menzies’ cargo facilities at NBO.

The 21,000 sq m cargo facility has undergone a significant expansion growing from 15,000 sq m. This includes increased cold room space alongside new docking stations for refrigerated trucks, increasing Menzies’ capacity to transport medical and pharmaceutical products.

A new yard area has also been completed to improve traffic flow management, while additional security cameras and lighting have been installed in a move to enhance security.
